Apple- For what we do Apple is the industry standard. I love this brand and will stick with it through and through. From their sleek sophisticated designs, the ease of their product use, and possibly most importantly their customer service; Apple has is all.
Question 1 Well…considering that 80% of the computer-using population still use Windows, I don’t think one can say that Apple is on top. However Apple does strive to remain user friendly while having breath-taking design and that they have certainly achieved.
Question 2 No, with the reputation that Apple already has there is no way any other company could take over their current position. Thus far no other computer, phone, technology company has been able to draw people into their product just by looking at it.
Question 3 I frequently look to apple’s ads for inspiration they are always very glamorous and fun but never overwhelm the product. A perfect example is their campaign for the iPod nano. It shows all the different colors, it makes you understand that they play music and video, and that they now shoot video as well.

Holden- Holden is a lesser-known and newer snowboard outerwear company out of Portland, Oregon. Their products are fashion forward and match my personality. They are an eco-conscious company that really thinks about their impact on the environment. While their products are currently a bit pricey every piece comes with a wonderful product warranty and craftsmanship that allows the product to last multiple winters.
Question 1 No, Holden does not follow the rules of the golden question. Their message I believe is more open to personal opinion and interpretation. Since I don’t know what their exact key message is, they must not be making it loud and clear.
Question 2 Yes, with this company you could easily have someone come out with another similar and maybe even better product and because it’s fashion and trends change the brand could become less popular.
Question 3 All advertisements for Holden defiantly don’t zero in on the product, they focus more on the products target market. Even the companies website is not focused on the product. http://www.holdenouterwear.com It is very artistically built and doesn’t even inform you that their product is for snowboarding. You kinda just have to know; and that’s what I find most appealing about it.
American Apparel- I am in love with this brand mostly because I consider it to be a “non-brand” brand. You recognize the product when you see it and tons of other companies utilize for their own use, and yet nothing actually says “American Apparel.” They also use sweet color-ways and its all made in good ‘ol USA.
Question 1 Made in the USA. That is the main branding tagline of American apparel. This message is important because they want the consumer know that they are getting a product that they can trust. This is believable possibly not at first but once you take a step back and realize how many of the T-Shirts in your closet are American Apparel and you know that they are your favorite, and the best quality product.
Question 2 Currently, No. They have a very specific and stylized marketing campaign that is recognizable all over the world. If anyone else were to imitate it you would know that it was not the real thing since their branding is dialed.
Question 3 The product is the star of their advertisements. They claim that they create their ads to feel familiar, not like people are looking at models. That is what is questionable; the girls they use are TINY. http://www.americanapparel.net/presscenter/ads/index.aspx
Coco Cola- I like Diet Coke but not Regular Coke, and I really don’t like Pepsi. Its all because of taste, and NO—they do NOT taste the same.
Question 1 Its Coco-Cola, it is an industry giant, you know it you trust it, they don’t have to do much else…Nobody is going to stop buying it anytime soon.
Question 2 Pepsi has and is trying but Coke is an institution and no one can beat it.
Question 3 Now I believe coke uses its communication more for entertainment purposes because they already have such and established market. They make memorable ad’s but they are not memorable because of the product; many of them you could remove the coke product entirely and just because of the name you would know exactly what it was for. Remember those Polar Bears—they didn’t even talk and everyone knew them and loved them! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIk7Q_DJIgQ
